GEDMatch is a free service that allows you to compare your DNA to Treinfhirs who have tested on a variety of DNA services including Ancestry, MyHeritage, and others. This will enable you to identify Treanor DNA matches in addition to what you currently see on your primary DNA testing service account.
Follow this 4-step process to become a participant:
- Go to GEDMatch.com and create a new account. Once logged in, detailed instructions can be found here: GEDmatch
- Download your DNA from your primary DNA testing service to a portable DNA kit using the detailed instructions (click the tab for your DNA testing service, e.g., “Ancestry”).
- Upload your kit to GEDMatch.com using the detailed instructions (click the tab entitled “Uploading to GEDmatch After Downloading”)
- Request to join the “Treanor/Traynor/Trainor/Trainer/Trenor/Trayner/Trener/Treinfhir/McCreanor Genealogy Research” project on GEDMatch at this link: Ancestor Projects | GEDmatch
- click on the “Search Projects” tab
- enter “Treanor” in the search box
- click the “JOIN” button
- you’ll be asked to answer a question or two — be sure to include info about your oldest known Treinfhir ancestor.
