Our Next Ceili is not scheduled yet
Our Ceili was so good it was scary.
A scene from the 3 November 2024 ceili.
We had a full night, or afternoon, or morning, as our family came from all parts of the world! We had up to 27 participants, with folks stopping in or dropping off as their schedules permitted. We heard stories (the priest and his socks!), good singing and good guitars and a nice flute accompaniment.
If you are performing, we have some things to keep in mind if your instrument cuts out during your performance. Note that Zoom is constantly updating their software and there are several versions out there, so the details below may be different for you:
- Turn on Original Sound for Musicians: In the top-left or right corner of the meeting window, or the arrow on your microphone image at the bottom, bring up settings and click the Original Sound for Musicians button to turn it on. This turns off features that are helpful during a business meeting but will interpret your instrument as noise – even if you’re very talented!
- Adjust background noise removal: Go to Zoom background noise removal and set it to Low or not aggressive.
- Disable “Automatically adjust microphone”: In your Zoom audio settings, disable “Automatically adjust microphone”. This avoids the gain increase Zoom applies between notes, and subsequent cutouts when the next note is played.
- Use one sound source and point your microphone at that. Alternately, you may be able to use a setting that Zoom sometimes presents, which is Live Performance Audio. This allows the separate sources to be on their own Zoom connection.
Consider trying your copy of Zoom, either an application or going to their site, before the meeting to try these things out! Contact us with any questions!
